LAREDO -- Leonardo Lopez threw a gem on Saturday for Mazatlán, Mexico allowing zero runs and besting Laredo Marucci, Texas by a score of 4-0. The first run of the game came when Samuel Osuna singled home a Mexico runner. While Mexico got three more, that first run proved to be the difference maker in the game.
Robert Villareal was on the mound for Laredo Marucci. He surrendered two runs on five hits over four innings. He was relieved by Sigifried Nava, who threw two innings of relief.
Mexico had eight hits in the game while Laredo Marucci had seven. Mexico saw multi hits efforts from Hector Enciso, Osuna and Bryan Rivas.
Mexico will move on to face Santa Clara (Red Sox) in the next round while Laredo Marucci will play one more game against Kankakee, Illinois.
