Game One: Monterrey, Mexico 14, Aroma Park, IL 3

Monterrey, Mexico 18U won big over Aroma Park, IL 18U 14-3 on Friday at Uni-Trade Stadium during game one of the 2023 Palomino World Series.

Monterrey jumped out to the lead in the top of the second inning after Santos doubled, scoring two runs, Navarro singled, scoring a run, Lopez singled, scoring a run, Juan Qunitilla drew a walk, scoring a run, and another run scored on another play.

Morales hit an inside the park home run, scoring two runs in the top of the fifth for the Monterrey.

Garza led things off on the mound for Monterrey. They allowed seven hits and three runs over six innings. While striking out eight and walking three. Carlile led things off on the hill for Aroma Park. The starting pitcher allowed five hits and six runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking six.

Monterrey gathered 20 hits in the game. Navarro and Olivares each collected four hits for Monterrey. Navarro, Lopez, Morales, and Santos each drove in two runs for Monterrey. Jacquez and Zenni each collected multiple hits for Monterrey, Mexico 18U. Lopez paced Monterrey with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, gathering six walks for the game. Jacquez stole two bases.

Game Two: Covina, CA 11, Brownsville, TX 1

Game Three: Puerto Rico 4, Israel 1

Puerto Rico topped Israel 4-1 on Friday at Uni-Trade Stadium during game 3.

Israel got on the board in the first inning after Shani hit a home run to left field.

Viera grounded out, which helped Puerto Rico tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.

Puerto Rico took the lead in the bottom of the second. Santiago singled, scoring a run, to give Puerto Rico an edge, 2-1. Nieves hit a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the sixth for Puerto Rico.

Nieves, Santiago, and E. Vazquez each collected two hits for Puerto Rico. Nieves, Viera, Santiago, and E. Vazquez each drove in one run for Puerto Rico. Nieves stole two bases. Puerto Rico turned one double play in the game. Puerto Rico 18U were steady-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. 

Game Four: Youngstown, OH 21, Palmview, TX 12

Cordeiro drove in five runs on three hits to lead Youngstown past Palmview 21-12 on Saturday at Uni-Trade Stadium. Cordeiro tripled in the sixth scoring two, singled in the fourth scoring one, and singled in the seventh scoring one.

Bats blistered as Youngstown amassed 17 hits and Palmview gathered nine in the high-scoring game.

Youngstown got on the board in the top of the first inning after Slanker walked, Havrilla scored after tagging up, and Henne singled, each scoring a run.

Palmview tied the game in the bottom of the first thanks to a double by Villarellal, a double by Torres, and a double play.

Youngstown took the lead in the top of the third. Slanker doubled, scoring two runs, to give Youngstown a leg up, 5-3.

Palmview flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the third, scoring nine runs on six hits to take a 12-5 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a grand slam to left field by Balboa on the ninth pitch of the at-bat.

Youngstown scored five runs on five hits in the top of the fourth inning. Lafferty singled, scoring a run, Lutte singled, scoring a run, Lafferty scored after tagging up, Slanker doubled, scoring a run, and Cordeiro singled, scoring a run.

Youngstown made the score 13-12 in the top of the sixth after Cordeiro tripled, scoring two runs, and Henne singled, scoring a run.

Youngstown scored eight runs on two hits in the top of the seventh inning. Chalus drew a walk, scoring a run, Cordeiro singled, scoring one run, Henne was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Lazzari drew a walk, scoring a run, McGuire drew a walk, scoring a run, Lafferty doubled, scoring two runs, and Lutte grounded out, scoring a run.

Baskerville pitched over three innings in relief for Youngstown. The reliever gave up one hit and zero runs while also striking out six and walking one. Mccoy led things off on the hill for Youngstown. They gave up eight hits and 12 runs over three innings, striking out four and walking eight. Camps stepped on the mound first for Palmview. They allowed 10 hits and nine runs over three innings, striking out none and walking four.

Youngstown amassed 17 hits in the game. Leadoff hitter Lafferty led Youngstown with four hits in six at bats. Chalus, Henne, Lutte, and Slanker each collected multiple hits for Youngstown. McGuire led Youngstown with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, gathering 11 walks total. Youngstown turned one double play in the game. Youngstown were steady handed and didn't commit a single error. 

Balboa drove the middle of the lineup, leading Palmview with five runs batted in. The catcher went 2-for-4 on the day. Balboa, Salinas, Leon, and Villarellal each collected two hits for Palmview. Palmview, Texas 18U were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error.

Game Five: Palmview, TX 2, Brownsville, TX 1

Game Six: Aroma Park, IL 6, Israel 4

Despite seeing their 5-run lead whittled down by the end, Aroma Park still held off for a 6-4 victory on Saturday. Israel closed the gap by scoring on a walk, a tag up, and a hit by pitch.

Aroma Park got on the board in the top of the first inning after Hodges walked, and Hays was struck by a pitch, each scoring a run. Aroma Park added one run in the second after Moore singled.

Harwood stepped on the mound first for Aroma Park. The starting pitcher gave up two hits and two runs over six innings. Naor started the game for Israel. They surrendered zero hits and two runs over a third of an inning, striking out one and walking two. Frank and Jarrius Harris each appeared in relief for Aroma Park.

Moore went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Aroma Park in hits. Frank, Hays, Hodges, and Moore each drove in one run for Aroma Park, IL 18U. Jaeden Harris led Aroma Park with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong hand at the plate, tallying six walks for the game. Moore stole two bases. Aroma Park were steady-handed and didn't commit a single error. 

L. Friesem and Shani each collected one hit for Israel. T. Friesem, Machlin, L. Friesem, and Shani each drove in one run for Israel. Solomon led Israel with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong hand at the plate, amassing 10 walks for the game.

Game Seven: Laredo, TX 7, Covina, CA 9

Laredo easily dispatched Covina on Saturday at Uni-Trade Stadium, 7-0.

A single by Benavides put Laredo on the board in the bottom of the first.

Garza started the game for Laredo. The pitcher surrendered one hit and zero runs over six innings, striking out nine and walking three. Hurtado started on the hill for Covina, CA 18U. They allowed three hits and one run over two innings, striking out one and walking three. Soto appeared in relief for Laredo.

Laredo accumulated 11 hits in the game. Benavides, Clements, and Gamez each collected two hits for Laredo. Benavides and Clements each drove in two runs for Laredo. Villaneuva paced Laredo with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing six walks for the game. Villaneuva stole two bases. Laredo turned one double play in the game. Laredo were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error.

Game Eight: Monterrey, MX 4, New Taipei City, TW 2

Monterrey bested New Taipei City 4-2 on Saturday at Uni-Trade Stadium.

Monterrey got on the board in the first inning after a wild pitch scored two runs.

Huang stepped on the hill first for New Taipei City. The starting pitcher allowed two hits and two runs over one inning, striking out two and walking none.

Lopez drove the middle of the lineup, leading Monterrey with two runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-4 on the day. J. Lopez and S. Lopez each collected two hits for Monterrey. Monterrey turned two double plays in the game. Monterrey were steady-handed and didn't commit a single error. 

Lee and Chen were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for New Taipei City. Ho and Chen each drove in one run for New Taipei City. New Taipei City didn't commit a single error in the field.

Game Nine: Israel 10, Brownsville, TX 8

Game Ten: Covina, CA 12, Palmview, TX 8

Game Eleven: New Taipei City, TW 6, Aroma Park, IL 0

Game Twelve: Youngstown, OH 3, Laredo, TX 2

Youngstown beat Laredo 3-2 on Sunday after taking the lead late in the game. Youngstown were down 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Lutte hit an inside the park home run, scoring two runs.

Both teams were strong on the hill. Youngstown pitchers struck out three, while Laredo sat down four.

A walk by Lazzari put Youngstown on the board in the bottom of the second.

In the top of the third inning, Laredo went back into the lead after Villaneuva singled, and DeLeon scored after tagging up, each scoring a run.

Harper started on the mound for Youngstown. The starting pitcher surrendered four hits and two runs over six innings, striking out three and walking four. Garcia led things off on the mound for Laredo. They gave up five hits and three runs over five innings, striking out four and walking seven.

Youngstown’s Henne made the most of their chances at the plate. The hitter led the team with two hits in two at bats. Lutte drove the middle of the lineup, leading Youngstown with two runs batted in. The first baseman went 1-for-2 on the day. Havrilla paced Youngstown with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game. Youngstown turned one double play in the game.

Sanchez, Gabrillo, Villaneuva, and DeLeon each collected one hit for Laredo. Villaneuva stole three bases. Laredo turned two double plays in the game. Laredo didn't commit a single error in the field.

Game Thirteen: Monterrey, MX 14, Toa Baja, PR 4

Jacquez drove in five runs on one hit to lead Monterrey past Puerto Rico 14-4 on Sunday. In the fifth inning, Jacquez doubled, scoring a run.

Monterrey got on the board in the top of the first inning after  Lopez doubled, Qunitilla was struck by a pitch, and Lopez scored after tagging up, each scoring a run.

Puerto Rico tied the game in the bottom of the first thanks to a single by Nieves, and a walk by Vazquez.

A triple by Lopez gave Monterrey the lead, 4-3, in the top of the second.

Puerto Rico scored on a wild pitch, which helped Puerto Rico tie the game at four in the bottom of the second.

Monterrey took the lead in the top of the third. Vazquez induced Jacquez to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, to give Monterrey the edge, 5-4.

Monterrey scored five runs on three hits in the top of the seventh inning. Lopez singled, scoring a run, Jacquez was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, and Olivares doubled, scoring three runs.

Muñoz led things off on the mound for Monterrey. The starting pitcher surrendered two hits and three runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out none and walking one. Vazquez stepped on the mound first for Puerto Rico. The pitcher surrendered six hits and six runs over four innings, striking out three and walking five. Trujillo threw three innings of scoreless ball for Monterrey in relief. They allowed one hit, striking out one and walking one.

Monterrey amassed 12 hits in the game. Lopez, Navarro, Lopez, Zenni, and Santos each collected two hits for Monterrey. Monterrey had a strong eye at the plate. Lopez and  De Los Santos led the team with three bases on balls each. Monterrey turned one double play in the game.

 

Game Fourteen: Laredo, TX 10, Covina, CA 1

Laredo easily dispatched Covina on Sunday at Uni-Trade Stadium, with a final score of 10-1.

Covina were the first to get on the board in the first when Hurtado singled, scoring a run.

A single by Gabrillo gave Laredo the lead, 2-1, in the top of the second.

A tag up by Sanchez extended the Laredo lead to 3-1 in the top of the third inning.

Ruiz stepped on the mound first for Laredo. The starting pitcher allowed eight hits and one run over six innings, striking out five and walking two. Barcelo started on the mound for Covina. The starting pitcher gave up seven hits and six runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out none and walking four. Soto pitched an inning of no-run ball for Laredo in relief. The reliever gave up zero hits, striking out one and walking none.

Laredo amassed 11 hits in the game. Benavides, Chaires III, and Clements each collected two hits for Laredo. Villaneuva, Clements, and Gabrillo each drove in two runs for Laredo. Laredo were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. 

Hurtado led Covina with two hits in three at bats. Covina turned one double play in the game.

Game Fifteen: Toa Baja, PR 5, New Taipei City, TW 2

Puerto Rico were triumphant over New Taipei City 5-2 on Sunday at Uni-Trade Stadium.

Puerto Rico opened the scoring in the bottom of the first due to three singles. Puerto Rico first got on the board when Vazquez singled, scoring two runs.

Santiago stepped on the hill first for Puerto Rico. The starting pitcher gave up nine hits and two runs over six innings, striking out four and walking three. Chen started on the hill for New Taipei City. They allowed four hits and four runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out none and walking one. 

Vazquez led Puerto Rico with two hits in three at bats. Puerto Rico turned one triple play in the game. Puerto Rico were steady-handed and didn't commit a single error. Vazquez made the most plays with seven.

Chang led New Taipei City with three hits in four at bats. Sung went 1-for-2 at the plate as the first baseman led the team with one run batted in. Liu and Pai each collected multiple hits for New Taipei City. New Taipei City turned one double play in the game. New Taipei City didn't commit a single error in the field. 

Game Sixteen: Youngstown, OH 4, Laredo, TX 3

It came down to the wire on Sunday night at Uni-Trade Stadium, as Youngstown grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 4-3, over Laredo. Youngstown were down 3-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Lutte tripled, scoring three runs.

Youngstown were the first to get on the board in the third when Havrilla singled, scoring a run.

In the top of the seventh inning, Laredo went back into the lead after Clements singled, Garza hit into a fielder's choice, and Benavides singled, each scoring a run.

Casteel stepped on the hill first for Youngstown. The pitcher surrendered one hit and zero runs over five and one-third innings, striking out four and walking four. Winans stepped on the bump first for Laredo. The starting pitcher gave up six hits and two runs over six and one-third innings, striking out four and walking three. McGuire appeared in relief for Youngstown.

Lufferty and Henne each collected two hits for Youngstown. Lutte provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Youngstown with three runs batted in. Youngstown turned one double play in the game. Youngstown were steady-handed and didn't commit a single error. Lutte made the most plays with nine.

Benavides led Laredo with two hits in two at bats. Garza, Benavides, and Clements each drove in one run for Laredo. Laredo were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. DeLeon made the most plays with six.

Game Seventeen: Toa Baja, PR 3, Monterrey, MX 1

Both teams were strong on the hill on Monday, but Puerto Rico defeated Monterrey 3-1. Gonzales started the game for Puerto Rico and recorded 21 outs.

Puerto Rico were the first to get on the board in the first when a passed ball scored one run.

Gonzalez singled on an 0-2 count, which helped Monterrey tie the game in the top of the second at one.

Puerto Rico took the lead in the bottom of the third. Rivera singled, scoring a run, to give Puerto Rico the lead, 2-1.

Gonzales stepped on the hill first for Puerto Rico. They gave up four hits and one run over seven innings, striking out four and walking none. Zenni began the game for Monterrey. The starting pitcher allowed two hits and one run over one inning, striking out none and walking none.

Gonzales, Rivera, and Cortez each collected two hits for Puerto Rico. Vargas and Rivera each drove in one run for Puerto Rico.

Number eight hitter, Gonzalez, showed the depth of Monterrey's lineup, by leading them with two hits in three at bats. Monterrey turned two double plays in the game. Monterrey didn't commit a single error in the field.

If Necessary Game Nineteen: Monterrey, MX 4, Toa Baja, PR 1

Monterrey were victorious against Puerto Rico 4-1 on Monday during the if necessary game 19.

Puerto Rico were the first to get on the board in the fourth when Nieves singled, scoring one run.

Monterrey jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning after Santos singled, S. Lopez scored after tagging up, Mendoza was struck by a pitch, and J. Lopez singled, each scoring a run.

Garza stepped on the bump first for Monterrey. The starting pitcher surrendered six hits and one run over seven innings, striking out five and walking one. D. Gonzales stepped on the hill first for Puerto Rico. They surrendered eight hits and four runs over six innings, striking out one and walking three.

Santos went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Monterrey in hits. Navarro collected two hits for Monterrey in three at bats. Monterrey were steady-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Quintnilla had the most chances in the field with 10.

Puerto Rico's Viera made the most of their chances at the plate. The number seven hitter led the team with two hits in three at bats. Nieves went 1-for-3 at the plate as they led the team with one run batted in. Puerto Rico also turned two double plays in the game.

Championship Game: Youngstown, OH 10, Monterrey, MX 4

Youngstown easily dispatched Monterrey on Tuesday at Uni-Trade Stadium, 10-4.

Youngstown got on the board in the top of the first inning after Monterrey committed an error, and Henne singled, each scoring a run.

Monterrey captured the lead, 4-2, in the bottom of the first after Zenni doubled, and Quintnilla singled, each scoring two runs.

Youngstown took the lead in the top of the fourth inning after Lafferty scored after tagging up, and Lutte stole home, each scoring a run.

Youngstown scored five runs on six hits in the top of the seventh inning. Henne singled, scoring one run, Lazzari singled, scoring one run, Capizzi singled, scoring one run, Lafferty doubled, scoring one run, and Havrilla singled, scoring one run.

Apaliski stepped on the mound first for Youngstown. They allowed five hits and four runs over seven innings, striking out four and walking eight. Lozano led things off on the hill for Monterrey. The starting pitcher surrendered one hit and two runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out one and walking two.

Youngstown piled up 12 hits in the game. Havrilla and Henne each collected three hits for Youngstown. Havrilla went 3-for-5 at the plate as the infielder led the team with two runs batted in. Cordeiro and Lafferty each amassed multiple hits for Youngstown. Slanker paced Youngstown with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game. Lafferty and Lutte each stole multiple bases for Youngstown. Youngstown were steady-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. 

Monterrey's Quintnilla made the most of their chances at the plate. The number eight hitter led the team with two hits in three at bats. Monterrey had a strong eye at the plate, piling up eight walks for the game. Santos, Gonzalez, and Baez led the team with two walks each.
