Game Recap: Puerto Rico - 3, Youngstown - 1

LAREDO -- History was almost made Saturday night, when Nick Consentino of Youngstown, Ohio took a no-hitter into the seventh inning in their game against Guaynabo, Puerto. Unfortunately for Consentino and Ohio, Puerto Rico’s bats came alive in that inning and they pulled away with a 3-1 victory.

The game was scoreless heading into the sixth inning when Lucas Gulczynski hit a sacrifice fly to center fielder Wilfredo Legrand scoring Chase Franken after Ohio loaded the bases.

That lead didn’t last long however, as Luis Enrique doubled on a line drive to left fielder Gulczynski scoring Angel Morales and tying the game up in the 7th inning. Puerto Rico later took the lead when Consentino induced Joskar Matta to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Guaynabo, Puerto Rico pitchers struck out 11, while Consentino sat down nine.

Axel Dones got the start for Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. He lasted five and two-thirds innings, allowing one hit and one run while striking out seven.

Ricky Havrilla led the game with two hits in three at bats.

Ohio moves on to face Santa Clara (Red Sox) while Puerto Rico will face the winner of that game in the semifinals.
