Game Recap: Laredo - 9, Texas - 4

LAREDO -- Harlingen, Texas fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 9-4 loss to Laredo, Texas on Sunday. Laredo scored on a fielder's choice by Erik Ruiz and a single by Sergio Galvin Jr. in the first inning.

Laredo got on the board in the first inning. Ruiz hit into a fielder's choice, scoring one run.

The big play of the game took place in the third inning though as Gerardo Villareal hit the third ever home run at UniTrade Stadium in Palomino World Series history. That home run made the score 4-0. Laredo tacked on another run in the third to lead 5-0 after three.

Laredo scored three runs in the fifth inning. Laredo big bats were led by Guillermo Sauceda and Dylan Minton, who each had RBIs in the inning.

Hector Alva led things off on the hill for Laredo. He surrendered two runs on five hits over three innings, striking out four and walking zero.

Texas tallied nine hits in the game. Daniel Dial and De Leon each racked up multiple hits for Texas. Dial went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Texas in hits.

Laredo tallied 16 hits on the day. Galvin Jr., Gerardo Villareal, Alan Villareal, Derick James Christman, and Ruiz each collected multiple hits for Laredo.

Laredo moves on to rematch Chinese-Taipei on Sunday night at 8:00 p.m. If Laredo wins that game, then there will be another game tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. for a championship berth.
