Game Recap: Chinese-Taipei - 8, Laredo - 1

LAREDO -- Laredo, Texas fell behind early and couldn't come back in an 8-1 loss to Taoyuan County, Chinese-Taipei on Sunday thereby eliminating the host team from the Palomino World Series and sending the Asia-Pacific Zone Champion to the Palomino World Series Championship on Monday. 

Chinese-Taipei’s scoring started in the second inning as they scored on an error, a single by Kuo Chin Yen and a single by Chih Chun Chen to go up 4-0. Yen’s single brought home two in the inning, all four runs were unearned.

Laredo was able to cut the lead to three in the fourth inning, but Chinese-Taipei picked up three runs in the top of the fifth and extended their lead to 7-1. They added their last run in the seventh inning.

Cheng Chen Lee led things off on the hill for Taoyuan County, Chinese-Taipei. He surrendered one run on four hits over five innings, striking out three and walking one.

Guillermo Sauceda, Gergorio Campos, Gerardo Villareal, and Sergio Galvin Jr. each collected one hit to lead Laredo, Texas.

Taoyuan County, Chinese-Taipei had eight hits in the game. Chen and Yen all managed multiple hits for Taoyuan County, Chinese-Taipei.

Chinese-Taipei awaits the winner of Ohio and Puerto Rico. The championship game is set to take place on Monday at 7:00 p.m.
