Game Recap: Ohio - 6, Puerto Rico - 3

LAREDO -- Youngstown, Ohio defeated Guaynabo, Puerto Rico by the score of 6-3 on Sunday in a rematch of last night’s classic. Ohio’s win means that the two teams will play another game at 10 a.m. on Monday to determine who will take on Chinese-Taipei in the championship game Monday night at 7:00 p.m.

Ohio opened up scoring in the first inning when Justin Miknis's sac fly scored one run..

Ohio pulled away for good with four runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Brayden Beck tripled on a 3-2 count, scoring three runs and Chase Franken singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

Franken got the start for Ohio. He surrendered three runs on six hits over seven innings, striking out six.

Shadai Colon Torres was on the mound for Puerto Rico. He lasted three and a third innings, allowing four hits and four runs while striking out four and walking one. Sebastian Alejandro Cortes Miranda, Bryan Aramis Roman Santana, and Cristopher Serrano Cotto each contributed in relief for Puerto Rico.

Luis Hernandez Estevez Enrique went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Puerto Rico in hits.

Ohio collected eight hits on the day. Franken and Brandon Geipi each racked up multiple hits for Ohio. Bobby Lane led Ohio with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with six stolen bases. Ohio didn't commit a single error in the field. Geipi had the most chances in the field with five.

The two teams will play again tomorrow morning to determine who will go opposite Chinese-Taipei in the championship.
